/ Installations & Objects

Channel (Optimized Flow) / 2019 / stainless steel, sculpture pedestal, soundscape

A meandering stainless steel gridiron vent which divides a large pedestal diagonally. A soundscape mixed using on-site recordings of the airconditioning system of the museum is played through the pedestal. The form of the meandering gridiron takes its shape from the speculative future model for a trans-polar sea route through the geographic North Pole, as the arctic ice pack has ceased to exist.

Guide (Indefinite View) / 2019 / steel railing, electronics

A steel railing which vibrates in an alternating pattern. Rather than guiding or leading the viewer, the railing creates an element of uncertainty. Through the changing mechanical movement, the railing suggests a scene in a mobile environment, such as a train or a ship.

Light (Deviated) I-IV / 2019 / neon lights

Neon light drawings that create crack-like patterns on the surfaces of gallery walls. The patterns track the routes of failed (or lost) expeditions to reach the Geographic North Pole, between 18th and 20th century, including Constantine Phipps (1773), John Franklin (1845), Fridtjof Nansen (1893), S.A.Andree (1897), and William Ziegler (1903).

Mountain (Bikes) / 2019 / bicycles, rocks

A serie of bicycles and rocks installed around a suburban area of the city of Reykjavik. The bicycles are seemingly deformed underneath the vast rocks they appear to be attempting to transport. This simple gesture makes mass and gravity palpable, the self-evident elements that structure our existence – thus
displaying an effort of a man to control something it has no power or control over.

Field of View (with Humpty Dumpty's doors) / 2018 / doors, wall

Installation that consists of regular doors and door frames mounted on a wall. The composition of the doors refers to popular imagery from Ceuta border fence, with growds of people persistently attempting to climb over the high fence. Humpty Dumpty is a character from a traditional English riddle, that originates from king Richard III of England, who was defeated despite his great armies and fortress. According to Lewis Carrols' Through the Looking Glass, Humpty Dumpty was also suffering from face blindness.

Patterns (of Entropy) I-VII / 2018 / steel

A series of laser cut patterns illustrate the routes of recent migration crisis through the globe, side by side with pre-historical (between 100 000 - 10 000 years ago) migration patterns of human kind, reconstructed through genetics research. These small patterns bring cracks, or entropy, on the surfaces of walls and glass planes.

Stadsmuzikanten / 2017 / station wagon, microcar, scooter, microbike, programmed light & sound / 4m x 4,5m

A temporary public sculpture that pays homage to Bremen Stadsmuzikanten. The headlights of the vehicles light on during dim hours, and an occasional choir of horns highlights their presence.
